Career guidance

Where you are now decides where to start.

Pick the line below that sounds most like you. You get the route we would actually put you on – what to learn, what to prove, and what to do when you start applying. No form, no email address.

Which one is you?

Six starting points, six routes.

Every route below is built only from things we teach today. Where the honest answer is “not with us”, it says so.

Target role · SOC analyst (Tier 1)

No experience needed

Start at the bottom rung on purpose, and do not skip it.

The most common mistake here is buying a certification first. Employers hiring at Tier 1 want to see that you can work an alert queue and write up what you found – so learn the job, then certify.

Now

Get the ground under you

Networking, Windows and cloud basics. Covered in the first classes, so you do not need them beforehand.

Target role · SOC analyst (Tier 1 to 2)

Shortest route we teach

You already have the part most people struggle with.

You know how systems break, how users behave and how to work a queue. What is missing is the security layer and the vocabulary – and that is a shorter journey than starting from nothing.

Now

Name what you can already do

Tickets, AD, endpoints, Microsoft 365. It all counts, and most of it is missing from your CV.

Blue Team Analyst

Built for exactly this move. Sentinel and Defender labs in your own tenant, and the investigation habits a SOC expects.

SC-200 and your badge

Look inside first

Internal moves are the most common way in from IT. Then a rewritten CV for the external market.

Target role · SOC specialist, threat hunter, Tier 2 to 3

Stop escalating, be escalated to

The gap is not knowledge. It is owning the investigation.

Tier 1 rewards speed; Tier 2 and 3 reward depth – hunting without an alert to start you off, and writing the analysis the business acts on. That is the part you cannot practise on a busy shift.

Now

Audit yourself honestly

Can you hunt with no alert? Write a breach timeline? Present a root cause to someone senior?

Target role · Cloud or security engineer

Azure first, then security

Your advantage is the platform. Add the security half.

People who can already run Azure are in demand the moment they can also secure it. The order matters: administration first, then the security controls on top of it.

Target role · Security engineer

Not a starting point

Engineering pays for depth, so we check you have it first.

Blue Team Engineer is the top rung and it assumes you can already work with the stack. If you cannot, starting here wastes your money – we would rather tell you that now than take it.

Check the level, honestly

Target role · Security and compliance administrator

Certification-led route

You understand the control. Now show you can operate it.

Coming from audit or risk, the gap is hands-on: doing the thing you have been assessing. This route is mostly Microsoft certification training rather than our own programmes, and we will tell you where we are not the right provider.

Reposition, do not restart

Your audit background is an asset in these roles. The CV has to say that on the first line.

CV tailoring

Governance certifications such as CISM, CRISC or ISO 27001 lead auditor may suit you better. We do not teach those, and we will say so rather than sell you something else.

Talking to us

Two different conversations. Only one is about you.

Choosing between our courses is free, and always will be. A proper look at your own background, your gaps and a written plan is a different job, and it has its own price.

Free

The fit call

Free20 minutes

  • Which of our programmes fits, or whether none does
  • What a programme covers, and what it does not
  • Prices, schedule and how the classes run
  • Whether you are ready for the rung you are asking about

Paid, and deliberately so

The Career Plan Call

£3030 minutes, plus your plan in writing

  • Your whole background, read properly beforehand
  • Which roles are realistic next, and which are not yet
  • The gaps between you and that role, named
  • What to do in what order, and roughly how long it takes
  • The plan sent to you afterwards, so you can work from it

What the paid call is not

  • A CV rewrite or a LinkedIn rewrite – those are their own services
  • A mock interview
  • Job placement, or any promise of work
  • A sales call. If the answer is “not with us, not yet”, you will hear it

Why we charge for it

Understanding one person’s whole career, finding the gaps and writing a plan they can act on takes preparation and time. Twenty free minutes cannot do it properly, and pretending otherwise short-changes everyone who books one.

Already enrolling on a Blue Team programme? Your tutor takes you through your plan as part of the programme – you do not need this.

Questions

Fair questions.

Why is the career call not free?

Because it is a piece of work, not a sales conversation. We read your background before the call, spend the call on you rather than on our courses, and write the plan up afterwards. The free 20-minute fit call is still there for “is this course right for me”.

Will you just tell me to buy a course?

No. Several of the routes above send people to Microsoft certification training instead of our programmes, and one of them names certifications we do not teach at all. If your next step is not with us, that is what the plan will say.

Do you guarantee a job at the end?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. We give you the skills, the evidence and the support. The outcome also depends on your effort, your background and the job market.

Can I bring a specific job advert to the call?

Yes. Send it with your CV when we ask, and we will work from it. If what you really want is the CV rewritten for that advert, CV tailoring is the cheaper answer.

What if I want to go into red teaming?

Red team and purple team programmes are coming, but we do not teach them yet, so we will not pretend to. Everything we run today is blue team: defending, detecting and responding. See what we teach today.

Still not sure which route is yours?

Thirty minutes, £30, and a plan you can work from.

One call about your background, not our brochure. You leave with the order of the next few steps written down.
